I have finally got round to putting together a large proportion of the Creation related videos on YouTube into one place. These can be viewed by visiting http://www.youtube.com/creationvideo. I’ll keep adding more, however many videos are missing as those strange people at Sony don’t seem to like people actually watching/enjoying any of the stuff they “own” so many have been deleted. This all seems rather strange to me as a decade ago they would have paid a fortune for short slot on The Chart Show, but as they say “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”. Despite this there’s plenty of hours viewing….. including some rarities from the like of The Diggers, Ultra Living, Trashmonk, Technique, A Certain Ratio, Hypnotone, Heavy Stereo, Silverfish and JC Brouchard with Biff, Bang, Pow! alongside the usual acts you’d expect.
I was looking through my vinyl this morning when I noticed a record I forgot I even owned, it is a test pressing of the debut EP from Ride. Scribbled on the label of the 12″ is the date 12th Dec 1989, exactly twenty years ago today!
Although the record wasn’t released until january 1990 I felt the need to share this utterly trivial fact with you. So here are both of the tracks from side 1 of that single. Enjoy! Continue reading
Primal Scream and Super Furry Animals feature in the NME’s Top 50 Albums Of The Past Decade list. Exterminator by Primal Scream, the final album ever released on Creation, came third with Super Furry Animals 2001 album ‘Ring Around The World’ featuring at 29 in the list. Continue reading
Not so much a classic as a recent recording, but what the heck! With less than 3 weeks (and counting) until My Bloody Valentine curate ATP’s Nightmare Before Christmas at Minehead. As a teaser for the event here are the band performing last year in Japan. Continue reading
Filmed just before the release of their 1987 Creation album ‘Poem of the River’, here’s a video of Felt performing in Scotland. Featuring two tracks ‘Declaration’ and ‘Riding on the Equator’ with 10 seconds of a familiar track at the end. This video is rather dark but the sound quality is pretty good, unfortunately there is a real lack of Felt on Youtube.
YouTube does produce some amazing treats if you’ve got the time to search, this latest video was originally shown in the autumn of 1991 on BBC2 and was just a few weeks after their performance at the Slough Festival. Continue reading

The third and final Creation single by The Bodines before they signed to Magnet was the 1986 single ‘Heard It All’ backed on the 12 ” by ‘William Shatner’. Here both songs can be heard recorded live at the ULU in 1986, the quality is that of a bootleg, but I often find these capture the gig far better than any professional recording. Continue reading
Taken from a 1987 TV appearance. Primal Scream performing Gentle Tuesday on a Scottish TV show called FSD. Continue reading
After spending much of this decade creating his sonic soundscapes, Stephen Lawrie returned to the stage recently backed by the rather good 93millionmilesfromthesun to perform a selection of classic tracks by The Telescopes.
Below is a clip from their Club AC30 gig. Continue reading
