BBC Four is to host a Creation Records night next Friday (28 October 2011). Alongside ‘Upside Down’ there will also be a ‘Creation at the BBC’ compilation featuring performances from many of the labels acts. There will also be a repeat of the 2009 documentary about Rough Trade.

The schedule for the evening is as follows:

21:00 – Upside Down: The Creation Story Profile of the UK’s most inspired and dissolute independent record label, Creation. Repeated at 3am

22:40 – Creation at the BBC With My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, Oasis, Ride, Boo Radleys and Teenage Fanclub. Repeated at 2am

00:30 – Do it Yourself: The Story of Rough Trade Documenting the history of Rough Trade, from small record shop to successful record label. (R)

Corin Ashley has just released his new single ‘Badfinger Bridge’ which features Ed Ball alongside Martin Carr and Rob Cieka from the Boo Radleys. The track was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road studios.

“When I recorded this, I was thinking how much all the Creation fans (like myself) would enjoy it. I have purchased every single thing Ed has ever released, so it was a big thrill for me to get him on my record. And I was always a huge Boos fan, so to get those guys in the studio together for the first time in ten years meant a lot. We even invited Sice to sing the harmony, but he couldn’t make it and we had to “make do” with Ken Stringfellow. And to have it all happen in Studio 2 at Abbey Road, magical. I even just got a nice Facebook msg from Liam Gallagher saying the song is cool, so what more could a boy want?” Continue reading
