Mazzy Star frontwoman Hope Sandoval has teamed up with My Bloody Valentine’s Colm O’Ciosoig on a forthcoming album.
Their band, Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions, will release their sophomore effort, ‘Through The Devil Softly’, on September 1 in the US. It will be their first album since their 2001 debut ‘Bavarian Fruit Bread’.
The new album features 11 tracks and was recorded in northern California and Ireland. It continues the band’s “laid-back, slowcore sound,” according to a statement.

Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions plan to announce the dates of an autumn North American tour in the coming weeks, as well as UK and European shows to follow.
Oasis have won the long-term Britpop battle with Blur, PRS For Music has claimed.
The organisation that collects royalties for songwriters, say their figures suggest despite Damon Albarn and co beating the Gallaghers to the UK Number One single spot in August 1995 – when ‘Country House’ outsold ‘Roll With It’ after they were released on the same day – it’s the northern band who have enjoyed the most exposure since.
Based on PRS’ research, Oasis have been listened to more than Blur over the last 14 years when both band’s total listens are compared head-to-head.
As a percentage of both groups’ combined total plays, the following songs have proved the most popular:
“With Blur performing some storming gigs and Oasis’ back on tour it’s like the heyday of Britpop once again,” explained Steve Porter, Chief Executive PRS For Music. “These new figures showing that despite Blur winning the original battle, Oasis wins long-term by number of plays. However with both bands still working and their music being widely played the battle continues.”

Scottish power-popsters Teenage Fanclub have been confirmed as the Sunday headline band for this year’s Indietracks Festival. The much-loved band, known for their chiming Byrds-esque guitars and West Coast harmony vocals, will play the Outdoor (Elefant) Stage at Indietracks.
More than 50 bands are playing this year’s Indietracks Festival, including Camera Obscura, Rose Elinor Dougall, Emmy the Great and Au Revoir Simone. Other bands playing include BMX Bandits, Lucky Soul, Frank and Walters, Help Stamp Out Loneliness, Butcher Boy and Manhattan Love Suicides.
Teenage Fanclub, hailing from Belshill near Glasgow, formed in 1989. They are most renowned for their critically and commercially successful albums Bandwagonesque, Songs from Northern Britain and Grand Prix, and are currently working on their ninth studio album.
