25 years after the release of his last album (as lead singer of The June Brides) Phil Wilson is set to release his solo debut on November 8th. NME reports that Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake and ex-Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci frontman Euros Childs have formed a new musical project named Jonny.
The pair will release a four-track free EP, simply titled ‘Free EP’, on November 10 and will tour in early 2011.
The songs set for the EP are ‘Gloria’, ‘Beach Party’, ‘Continental’ and a cover of The 23rd Turnoff’s ‘Michael Angelo’. They are set to release a full album next year.

November 1st marks the 25th anniversary of the release of Psychocandy, the Jesus & Mary Chain’s debut album.
To celebrate Jim Reid has given an interview to the Von Pip Musical Express where he talks about the album comparing it to “an old photograph” and the backlash they recieved after their initial success. He also answers the inevitable question if the band will celebrate the anniversary by playing the album at some live dates… “I wouldn’t rule it out, but the truth of the matter is it’s a very hard record to play live.”

The Jasmine Minks have released a new EP of unreleased tracks from 1992 with all proceeds from the EP going to MacMillan Cancer Support charity.
The website states: “Oatcake Records are proud to release as their inaugural record, a Jasmine Minks 4 track CD ‘Poppy White’ recorded in 1992 and never before released. This 4 track ep is dedicated to the memory of 2 guys very important in the Minks, sadly with us no more. Uncut reports that acclaimed UK indie label Sonic Cathedral is set to release a tribute album to former 13th Floor Elevators frontman Roky Erickson.
‘The Psychedelic Sounds Of The Sonic Cathedral’ features contributions from the likes of Dead Meadow, A Place To Bury Strangers and an appearance from Erickson himself.
Erickson will be backed by My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields and The Black Angels on a live rendition of 13th Floor Elevators’ classic, ‘Roller Coaster’.
The album will be released on June 7.
