Slowdive last played live on 21st May 1994 in Toronto, now they have announced nearly twenty years to the day they will reform with confirmation of a show at Village Underground in London on 19th May.
The news follows last nights announcement they are confirmed on the bill for Primavera Festival in Spain later in May.
Further live dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
The reformation came about following conversations between the band over the last two years as Neil Halstead explains:
‘Initially we started talking amongst ourselves last year about making a new record, we were all keen to bust out the pedals again but figured it might be a good idea to do a few gigs this year to get back into the swing of things.’
Rachel and Neil played live together again for the first time in over a decade at last year’s Sonic Cathedral shows in London which you can read about by clicking here.
Tickets for the Village Underground show go on sale at 9am Friday 31st January via the ATP website.
Slowdive have been confirmed to play this year’s Primavera Sound in Barcelona. The festival runs from May 29-31 and also features Arcade Fire, Mogwai, Daniel Avery and Pixies, the band were announced tonight via the festival line-up film.
Christmas has come early this year, Swervedriver have announced their first new single in 15 years with a new album planned for 2014. The two track single is available NOW directly from the band as a download and features Mark Gardener of Ride on backing vocals.
This week marks 25 years since the release of My Bloody Valentine’s groundbreaking ‘Isn’t Anything’ album.
A Facebook page has been set up for the 2CD reissue of the NME cassette C86. The album originally featured The Pastels, Primal Scream and The Bodines amongst others and is due for release in May 2014.
The updated version will be compiled and annotated by its original curator Neil Taylor. No tracklisting for the extra tracks has been announced yet so keep an eye on their Facebook page. This reissue follows the release of the Scared To Get Happy box set earlier this year.

Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs joined his old Oasis bandmate Liam Gallagher and Andy Bell of Ride/Oasis last night in London. The gig was held by The Charlatans for their drummer Jon Brookes who sadly passed away in August, all profits from the gig went to The Brain Tumour Charity and for those of you who still wish to donate you can do so by visiting a donation page set up in Jon’s memory.
On 2nd December, The Jesus And Mary Chain Vinyl Collection will be released through Demon Records, exclusively for European customers via the new store (www.myplaydirect.com/jesus-and-mary-chain). Limited to 1500 numbered copies, the collection will include the 6 studio albums, 2LPs of BBC sessions, a live BBC compilation LP, 32 page hardback book and a fan selected B-sides and rarities LP.
Neil Halstead and Rachel Goswell of Slowdive will be reuniting for two special gigs in London later this month.
Ride have released a 5CD boxset including their 4 studios and the 1994 Japanese compilation ‘Cosmic Carnival’ in card replica sleeves.
Although the tracklisting for each album does not include the additional EP tracks featured on the 2001 remasters, this is the first time ‘Cosmic Carnival’ has been released outside of Japan.
The Telescopes are to release their 7th album ‘Harm’ on 30/09/2013 (UK) and 10/01/2013 (USA).
