The former Slowdive frontman Neil Halstead has signed to Sonic Cathedral to release his third solo album.

‘Palindrome Hunches’ will be released on November 5th and follows his forthcoming UK dates including a Sonic Cathedral show at Bush Hall in London on September 25th. Neil then heads off across the pond before returning to the UK in November for more dates. Continue reading

Be Here Now clock

Last week marked the 15th anniversary of the release of the third Oasis album.  Whilst their peers The Charlatans are marking the anniversary of their 1997 album ‘Tellin’ Stories’ with a tour, all ‘Be Here Now’ seems to have attracted is a single half-hearted blog post via the NME.  The post attracted loads of comments all with differing views, one stating it is the band’s ‘Rattle & Hum’ whilst others defending the album. They will release their 2 full-length studio albums, Isn’t Anything and Loveless, plus EP’s 1988-1991, a brand new compilation which draws together their 4 EP releases, Feed Me With Your Kiss, You Made Me Realise, Glider and Tremolo alongside 7 additional rare and previously un-released tracks. BBC Four is to host a Creation Records night next Friday (28 October 2011). Alongside ‘Upside Down’ there will also be a ‘Creation at the BBC’ compilation featuring performances from many of the labels acts. There will also be a repeat of the 2009 documentary about Rough Trade.

The schedule for the evening is as follows:

21:00 – Upside Down: The Creation Story Profile of the UK’s most inspired and dissolute independent record label, Creation. Repeated at 3am

22:40 – Creation at the BBC With My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, Oasis, Ride, Boo Radleys and Teenage Fanclub. Repeated at 2am

00:30 – Do it Yourself: The Story of Rough Trade Documenting the history of Rough Trade, from small record shop to successful record label. (R)

After 15 years Mani is set to return to The Stone Roses as the classic line-up of the band reunite for a new album and world tour next year.

From their press conference this afternoon in Manchester, Granada Reports has tweeted that Mani has stated “it’s heart breaking to leave Primal Scream, but they’ve allowed me to follow my dream. I’m so grateful.”

The band have so far announced two dates in Manchester at Heaton Park on June 29th and 30th next year.
