Sunday August 7th 1988 was the hottest day of the year and a selection of Creation’s finest acts all took to the stage to celebrate the label. Things had come a long way from The Living Room just a few years before.
Another release for Record Store Day this year is a live version of Psychocandy on vinyl.
Slowdive are to reissue their 1992 compilation ‘Blue Day’ for Record Store Day.
Primal Scream played London’s ULU on 26th June 1987 and an old bootleg video of the gig has appeared on YouTube.
Bernard Butler is reuniting with his post-Suede/pre-Creation partner David McAlmont for a tour later this year.
Last year I mentioned a Channel 4 documentary about the Glasgow DIY scene of the early to mid-80s and The Splash One night that ran in the city from 85-86. The documentary is now online for you to watch below.
With many of the old Creation bands back together again, I felt I should start a series of posts focusing on some of the other acts from the label, bands who may not be referenced as influences today but still helped to shape Creation Records.
Update: the band have announced a handful of dates for May 2015 with a reissue of Mwng.
